Life Reflection

In the early morning hours of April 13, 2024, Our Lord and Savior opened the gates of heaven and called our earthly angel Ms. Zhyon Ni’Phyabain Burgess home. Zhyon’s infectious smile, kind spirit and giving ways will forever be etched into our hearts as memories of her smile light our paths forward.

Born on June 18,1999, at Carolinas Women’s Center in Florence S.C to Ms. Sonia Burgess. Zhyon received her formal education in the Florence County Public School System and is a Graduate of the Lake City High School Class of 2017. Zhyonloved school, reading and most importantly enjoyed being with others. Her personality was bubbly and lively; to know Zhyon

was to love her. She participated in many extracurricular activities in middle and high school such as the marching Blue Guard Band, cheerleading, show choir, JEWEL program and being an active member of the high school drama club. Zhyonwas also on the Wilson High School step team for a short while. A true star in every room she stood in.

As a young child Zhyon found the Lord at Good News Deliverance Church where she served on the youth usher board and youth choir. Even at a young age, Zhyon found refuge in the word and always kept it near her heart.

Zhyon was accepted into Benedict College where she was majoring in health science and was a student ambassador. The following year, Zhyon enlisted in the United States Navy for a short while. After coming back to Lake City, Zhyon relocated to Spartanburg S.C where she was currently employed at BMW and recently received her certification to become a certified nursing assistant.

Zhyon leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted mother Sonia Burgess of Spartanburg S.C, her sister ZakinahBurgess of Spartanburg S.C, her dearest to her heart little brother Za’Ayden Burgess of Spartanburg S.C, her sister-cousin Zavareal Burgess of Kingstree S.C, a maternal grandmother Deloris Fulmore of Lake City S.C, maternal uncle William Fulmore of Lake City S.C, maternal aunt Karen Burgess of Lake City S.C, maternal aunt Lawana Burgess of Kingstree S.C, a special aunt Loretta Gaskins of Lake City S.C and a host of other cousins, loving relatives and friends. Preceding Zhyon in death is her maternal grandfather, Clarence Burgess.
