Obituary
Mrs. Mary Ann (Wallace) Daniels, daughter of the late J.G. Wallace and the late Mattie Bell (Henry) Wallace, was born on June 9, 1944, in Lake City, South Carolina. She attended the public schools in Cades. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ at the family church Bethlehem Baptist Church.
In 1958, her older brother introduced her to the love of her life, Timothy Daniels. It was love at first sight! After a brief courtship, they were united in holy matrimony on March 28, 1963, in Englewood, New Jersey. This union was blessed with three children: Ida, Jerome, and Gregory. They had their children in Englewood, New Jersey where they resided for 50 years. After raising their children and becoming empty-nesters, Mary decided to return to high school to complete her senior year at Dwight Morrow Adult High School and graduated with honors in 1987.
For many years, Mary worked as a certified home healthcare aide specializing in hospice care. She was employed atEnglewood Hospital until she and Timothy retired and decided to move back to Olanta, SC in 2009. She took pride in what she did in making sure her patients were well taken care of. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She boasted about her love for her husband, her children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If you wanted to get into a fight with Mary, talk about their grands. Mary and Timothy loved nicknames. Timothy lovingly referred to her as his “Poopie” and he was her “Tubby.” Her siblings called her “Toot” and all of her grands affectionately called her “Ma-Ma”. Her grands had nicknames as well: Munka, Mup-Mup, Dunkin, Jazzy-Jazzy, Jada Girl, and Little Boy. Mary had a big, beautiful smile and an infectious laugh.
Mary was a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church of Westwood, New Jersey for over 30 years. As a result of her membership there, she was a faithful choir member of the Lebanon Gospel Chorus and the Lebanon Chorus. She was also a member of the nurse’s ministry. She loved worshipping and praising the Lord with her devoted husband. Mary and Timothy LOVED TO SING together! They sang on numerous church programs all around New Jersey. They were formerly called The Daniels Singers and were often referred to as “The Consolers” because of their distinctive singing style. Mary truly loved the Lord and was not ashamed of doing so with her “shabbot” praise. Mary had a unique voice and loved singing “Pray on My Child” and “I’ll Be Alright Afterwhile.” Upon moving back to South Carolina, Mary and Timothy joined Wayside Chapel Baptist Church to continue their ministry. She was a faithful member of the mass choir until her illness.
