Reflections
Ms. Gwendolyn Davis was born on August 26, 1953, in Lake City, SC a daughter of the late Mr. John Davis Sr. and Mis. Lizzie M. Davis.
She entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in Florence, SC after a brief illness.
Gwendolyn was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, the Acolyte Coordinator, the membership secretary, and a member of the United Methodist Women Association. Gwendolyn was a graduate of Lake City High School Class of 1971. If you knew Gwen you knew she loved God, Seneca, all her family, shopping until "YOU" dropped, and cooking. To her nieces and nephews, she was known as the "Rich Auntie" because of her love for shopping and her diva fashion style. She worked many years at Cooper's ABC and Scott's Daycare and was well known and loved by everyone in her community. On Sunday when God called her home, he gained a special angel. She raised her only son Seneca to be the strong man he is today. When it came to any of her family, she never missed a beat you could always call on her for anything.
Gwendolyn is preceded in death by her parents John Davis Sr. and Lizzie Davis, brothers Mr. timothy Davis, Mr. John Davis Jr., and Bishop Moses L. Davis, two sisters Mrs. Vergie Montgomery and Mrs. Bernice Willey.
Gwendolyn is survived by: her son Seneca K. (Miranda) Davis Sr. of Rock Hill, SC, and a son she reared as her own Jacory Davis of Columbia, SC, two daughters Cosima E. Milton of Kingstree, SC, and a daughter she reared as her own Jakera Davis of Spartanburg, SC. Four sisters Mary D. Brown, Linda D. Brown of Lake City, SC, Gracie M.
(Henry) Cooper of Kingstree, SC and Joyce M. Burgess of Lake City, SC and a special sister/niece that she reared in the home with her Miranda D.
Moore of Florence, SC, and Mrs. Shirley McCoy of Brooklyn, NY and Mrs. Charlease Washington of Lake City, SC that she took as sisters as well as her lifetime companion Theodore Salters of Lake City, SC. Six grandchildren Saniyah Davis, Mi'Asia Davis, Shyann Davis, Mariana Davis, Seneca Davis Jr. and London McLeod and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
