Obituary Elsie Marie Lee Hanna, born June 19, 1932, to the late Essie Moore Lee and Leroy Lee. She departed this life on Friday, February 9, 2024, after a very short illness. She was educated in the Florence, S.C. School District. Marie accepted the Lord Jesus Church as her personal savior as a teenager at East Lake City Holiness Church. She continued to be in His service from that moment on. She was united in holy matrimony to David L. Hanna. God blessed them with a loving daughter, Helen. In the early 60’s, she migrated to the northeast, seeking better opportunities for herself and her family. Marie secured employment as a domestic engineer with families in New Jersey and New York. Additionally, she worked at Tres Joli Salon in Harrison, New York, and later became a deli clerk at Kroger Grocery Stores in Texas, from which she retired in 2015. Marie was a long-time member of the Strait Gate Church in Mamaroneck, NY, pastored by the late Bishop Alfred S. Powell. Under his leadership she was involved in numerous auxiliaries, some of which included Superintendent of Sunday School, Usher Board, various choirs, and the Missionary Board among many others. In 1991, she relocated to Katy, Texas. While there she was a member of Refuge Vision Ministries, pastored by Dr. Bishop Elijah Solomon. She worked tirelessly in various capacities serving the church and her God. Upon returning home to South Carolina in 2017, she became a member of the Word of Truth Church Family, pastored by Elder Gerald W. Rose. There she served wherever needed for as long as her health permitted. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; an adopted sister, Rosa Lena Lee; and a special niece, Linda S. Gaskins. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter, Helen; adopted daughter, Andrea Yizar; sister, Era Mae Gaskins: Godchild, Serena Plaskett; a host of nieces, nephews; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
