Stanley R. Gunter

Native American, Stanley Raymón Gunter, affectionately known as “Runningwater”, “Ray”, also known as “Chief”. Mr. Stanley Raymón Gunter is the son of the late Helen Gause Gunter and Jacob W. Gunter. “”Ray”, as he was most commonly called by family and friends, was born on March 2, 1954 in Marion, SC. He departed his earthly life Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

Stanley received his education in Englewood, NJ. He also studied at American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC at Francis Marion University. He studied Method Acting at American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York. Stanley was a Free Lance Artist. Stanley went to Miami Northwestern High School, he also attended William Howard Taft High School in Englewood, NJ.

Stanley joined the U.S. Navy at a young age and he often talked about how he loved being at Sea as a Sailor. He often would sing the U.S. Navy Song, “Anchors Away”. Stanley loved the Lord and he made sure that everyone he came in contact with knew it. Stanley was also ordained as a minister at the Church of God in Christ in Englewood, NJ. He also loved to sing, play his guitar and harmonica.
Stanley was a jack of all trades. He was a manager at Sears Rebuck in Hackensack, NJ. Most of his work history was working as a freelance artist. He worked for Signs LTD in Lake City for many year. He loved helping others. His Motto was “Help Someone Today”.

Stanley was joined in Holy Matrimony to Kathy Fowler Gunter from Lake City, SC in 1976.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Jacob W. Gunter and Helen Gause Gunter, paternal grandparents Jacob L. Gunter and Janie E. Pigatt Gunter, maternal grandparents George Chavis Gause and Rose H. Vereen Gause; brothers Hugh Glenn Gunter, David Anthony Gunter, and Jacob Randolph Gunter. Also preceded in death by sister, Jacqualine H. Gunter Moreland. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Kathy Fowler Gunter; his children: Thed (Melissa) Fowler of Irmo, SC, Twoson Gunter of Lake City, SC , Trianna (Mickey) Matthews of Lake City, SC; stepson: Sedrick Gunter of Lake City, SC, Elizabeth Ray Gunter of Texas, Rosaye (Jeremy) Suprius of Atlanta, GA, Sharelle McCoy of Tampa, FL, Noelle Helené Gunter of Irvine, CA, Cory Gunter of Chesapeake, VA, Stanley Ray Leaks, NJ, Prince Kingley Gunter of Marion, SC, Kwaziere Gunter of New Jersey, Yolanda Dickey of Florence, SC, and Angela Gunter of Flordia; one special surviving cousin who was more like an aunt: Lena McFadden of Marion, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many close and dear friends.
