On Tuesday evening at 6:50 pm, June 16, 2020, God called Ms. Shirley Jean McClam home to take her eternal rest, where the soul never dies. We will miss your physical presence, but you will live with us in spirit always. Sleep on and take your rest, you will always be with us.
Ms. Shirley Jean McClam was born on June 3, 1939, in Lake City, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ina McClam. She obtained her formal education in the public schools of Lake City, South Carolina. She joined St. Luke Methodist Church and was converted at an early age. She served faithfully. Later, she moved her membership to Mount Clair Baptist Church along with her parents. There she served on the usher board was a faithful member until she became homeland. Shirley was a caregiver to her mother and father until the passing of both. She was also a homemaker that loved to express her love to others through cooking. Shirley provided care for her sibling’s children when they were working. She taught us how to keep the family bonded on one accord. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Shirley was proceeded to death by her oldest child, Perrie Ann Graham; and two siblings, Durant McClam and Robert McClam.
Those who remain to cherish her loving memory always is a daughter, Faye (Malachi) Graham of Lake City, SC; a son, Larry McClam of Lake City, SC; a special grandson that she raised as her own, Emanuel (Toya) McClam of Lake City, SC; three sisters, Levorn McClam Sarah Graham and Tran McAlister; and a brother Bethea McClam all of Lake City, SC. Two sister-in-laws, Louise McClam and Roneatha McClam both of Lake City, SC, and four grandchildren, Dedrick (Kate) Graham, Tyrone Graham, Kenny McClam, and Tiffany McClam; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a special lady that she took as her daughter, Gloria Dockery; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
