Ms. Louvenia C. Brown

Louvenia C. Brown was called to eternal rest on Friday, October 14, 2022.

She was born on February 3, 1939 to the late Mr. Walla Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Christana Wilson Brown.
Louvenia was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg and Florence Counties. After graduating from Carver High School, Lake City, SC, she matriculated at Claflin College (University) in Orangeburg, South Carolina where she received a B.S. Degree in Education. She later earned Certifications in Science, Biology, Health and Physical Education and Elementary Education.

She taught at North District Training School in Varnville, SC, Colloton High School in Walterboro, SC, Chestnut Consolidated School in Myrtle Beach, SC, Johnsonville High School in Johnsonville, SC and Sumter High School in Sumter, SC. She retired in 1992 and moved back to her hometown, Lake City.
She joined St. John Methodist Church (St. John United Methodist Church) at an early age and was very active until her health failed. She served as Superintendent of the Sunday School and Sunday School Teacher for many years. She also served as the Church’s historian, a member of the Sr. Choir and the study committee for the new church.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Marion Brown and Walla Brown, Jr., three sisters: Lula Mae Brown, Drucilla Durant and Catherine Dukes.

She leaves to cherish her memories a son: Justin Brown, two sisters: Marie Lee of Atlanta, GA and Eliza Spurling of Lake City, two sister-in laws: Ella Brown of Brooklyn New York and Deloris Brown of Lake City, and a nephew: Anthony Brown and Teresa Fulmore, a devoted caregiver, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
