Ms. Joann Cooper

Joann Cooper, age 77, was the daughter of late James Cooper Sr. and Rosetta Singletary Cooper. She was born on May 5, 1945, in the Leo Community of Lake City, South Carolina. Joann departed this life on January 11, 2023, following an extended illness.

She was educated in the public schools of Lake City, South Carolina and graduated from Carver High School of Lake City, South Carolina. She was in many church organizations: Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board, Trustee Board, PPRC Committee, Kitchen Committee, Choir, Treasurer of the Church, and Financial Secretary. She was also a formal member of the Willing Workers Chapter 330. Wherever Joann was needed, she helped. Joann was a people person. Joann worked at Talon, Lake City, SC, for over thirty years. She was also a Cosmetologist. Joann was famously known for helping people.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Rev. Albert Cooper, Leo Cooper, Leroy Cooper, James Cooper Jr. Floyd Cooper, Frank Cooper, and Willie Cooper ; sisters: Mae Belle Cooper, Ester C. Gaskins, Viola C. Barr, Julie C. Timmons, Ruby Williams, and Thelma Bryant.

Joann leaves to cherish her memories a special niece: Antoinette C. Henneghan; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; sisters-in-law: Emma Jane E. Cooper and Mary A. Cooper Vaughan; and a friend: Shirley Scott.
