Ms. Essie Mae Brown

Essie Mae Brown was born on March 28, 1961 to the late Ms. Helen Brown and Mr. John Wesley Singletary. She entered into a peaceful sleep on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at MUSC Health of Florene, SC.

Essie Mae Brown received her formal education at Lake City High School Class of 1980, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Claflin University of Orangeburg, SC. She was also a member of The OES, Sunbeam Chapter 224.

Essie Mae was preceded in death by Richard Tisdale, Elizabeth Julious, Harold Brown, Loretta B. Hannah, Katrina Brown, and Shelia Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Helen Brown of Columbia, SC and Dashawn Brown of Conway, SC; one grandchild: Kenyon Miller; her siblings: Ferry (Yvonne) Brown of Florence, SC, Fred (Diane) Singletary of Effingham, SC, Joseph (Francis) Cameron of Lake City, SC, and a host of sisters, three special nieces: Lasarsha McFadden, Michelle Cannon, and Shaquina Brown, one special friend: Charles Wilson and a host of family and friends.
