Mrs. Gloria J. Best

Gloria Jean Best, also known as “Betty Jean” peacefully passed away on February 5, 2021 . She was born November 22,1950 in Lake City, South Carolina, to the late Ruttie Fulmore and Pearl Brown. She was raised by the late Leo and Addie Brown. Gloria graduated from Battery Park High School. She later relocated to New York City were she met, the love of her life, Gilbert Best. They were married for over 22 years, to this union, three children were born, Stacey, Nicholas and Cheryl.

Gloria worked for the New York State Department of Labor. She retired after 35 years of loyal service. Gloria enjoyed her family and the people who were around her. She was so caring and compassionate, never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Gloria enjoyed and loved good music, delicious food and to travel every now and again. She was so excited when her grandson, Nicholas, who she affectionately called “Pooh”, moved back to New York last year. Gloria was a very dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

The following family members preceded her in death: Gilbert Best (husband), Nicholas Best (son), Lola Best (mother-in-law); Eric Dixon (son-in-law), David Lee Williams (brother), James Fulmore (brother), Julie Fulmore (brother) and her stepdaughter.

Gloria leaves to cherish her precious life, her daughters: Stacey Dixon and Cheryl Best; her grandchildren: Nicholas Dixon, Lance Dixon, Erykah Dixon; her furry grandchild, Gucci; her adopted children, Jerome Foy, Kaena Appling; and her stepson, Carl Barnhardt; her brothers and sisters: Acquanette Williams-Lee (Samuel), Mack (Mariam) Fulmore, James (Lola) Fulmore, Larry (Mable) Fulmore, Rosemarie (Thomas) Barr, Patricia Anderson, Barbara (Henry) Adams, Ralph (Sandra) Fulmore, Naomi Fulmore, Ruddy Jr.

(Michelle) Fulmore, and Connie Fulmore; her sister-in-law, Ruby Fulmore;. her nieces and nephews: Shaina Williams, Keisha Williams, David Cooper (Tookie), David Williams (Peter), Louise Green, Sherelle Williams and a host of other nieces, nephews and other family members.
