Mrs. Dorothy Hanna

DOROTHY MAE HANNA was called from labor to reward on Saturday, May 23, 2020. She was born, May 12, 1927 in Lake City, South Carolina to the late Issac and Vermell Lewis.

On February 17, 1945, Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to the late Jack Sig Hanna. To this union 7 children were born, 3 of which, proceeded her in death – Jackie Nell Graham and Brinda Loretta Cooper.

At an early age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was baptized September 9, 1973 and joined Bethel A.M.E church where she began a journey, as a lifelong faithful member, which would shape her life and the lives of her family for generations to come. In 1978, Dorothy joined Willing Workers Chapter #319 Order of Eastern Star.

Dorothy was a devoted and loving wife for 49 years, mother, sister, auntie and friend to all whom she met. Her infectious laugh, quick whit and beautiful smile will forever be missed by her family, church family, community and friends.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: 4 children – Willa (Charles) Sanders of Englewood, NJ; Ruth Epps of Lake City, SC; Gary (Linda) Hanna of Dillion, SC; Willie Hanna of Atlanta, GA; a special daughter-in-law, Blanch Hanna of Lake City, SC and a special son-in-law, Robert Cooper of Winston Salem, NC; 15 loving grandchildren – one, whom she shared a special bond, Rikkia (Simon) Kohn of Columbia, SC; 25 great grands; 15 great-great-grands and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
