Mrs. Catheryn Jones

Catheryn Jones, daughter of the late Samuel Powell and Lizzie Brown Powell, was born on March 8, 1939, in Lake City, SC. She first relocated to Brooklyn, NY, and later moved to Providence, RI, where she resided until returning to South Carolina in the last six months of her life.

Catheryn was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. She was affectionately known as “Bunk.” She was married to the late Nathaniel Jones and their union was blessed with five children. She was preceded in death by one child, Priscilla Powell Tate; two brothers, David and Willie Joe Powell; three sisters, Patsy Miller, Mattie J. Mcfadden, and Ernestine Ramsey.

Catheryn is survived by seven children: Janie Powell, Nathaniel Powell, Rudolph Powell, and Gregory Powell who all reside in Lake City, SC; Darron Jones (Rosangely) of Shelby, NC; and Theresa Crum (Jeffry) and Natalie Jones, both of Providence, RI. Also left to cherish her memory is one brother, George Powell of Pompano Beach, Fl, and one sister, Lerlene Hannah, of Lake City, SC.

She leaves behind a beloved niece, Katie Edwards (Sam) of Hemingway, SC., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
