Phillip Dozer Myers (Shorty), son of the late Haskell Myers and Elsie Fulmore was born June 6, 1928 in Cades, South Carolina, Williamsburg County. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Ruth Fulmore and Willie Mae Fleming; one brother, George Myers and one-half sister, Ruth A. McKnight. He attended school in Williamsburg County. He was a faithful member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Cades, South Carolina. He loved his church and his church family. He was a devoted member of the Usher Board, and a member of the United Methodist Men. He was Faithful in going to church. Until his health failed He did not believe in being late for service. Phillip was employed by T.S. Rasdale, Lake City, SC as a forklift driver for 40+ years. He was employed by Roster Fertilizer Company about 3 years, Lake City Lumber for approx. 3 years, Steve Pinixx Trucking Company as a Driver for 2 years and Coward Elementary School as a Custodian for 3 years. He was joined in matrimony to his loving and caring wife, Johnell Black of Lake City, South Carolina for sixty two years. He was a loving and very devoted husband. To this union were born three children. On Saturday, January 23, 2021 Phillip entered into eternal rest at MUSC Hospice care in Florence, South Carolina. Phillip, Shorty as He was called, leaves to cherish his fond memories: his loving and devoted wife, Johnell Myers; his two sons: Phillip Myers, Jr, and Nathaniel Myers both of Lake City, SC; one daughter, Gail Juliet Myers of Columbia, SC; two sister-in-law: Jeanette (Jimmy) Rose, and Ruth B. (Nathaniel) Hannah both of Lake City, SC; One brother-in-law, John Ernest (Betty) Black of New Jersey and one uncle-in-law, William (Ruby) Black of Hollywood, FL; five grandchildren: Patrick A. Myers, Columbia, SC, Trevor L. (Tara) Myers, Rocky Mount, NC, Elijah Myers, New York, NY, Eric Franklin & Adrian Williams both of Lake City, SC. Three great-grands; Kristen, Cameron, and Aaron Brown of Lake City, SC. One great-great grand, Jasiah Brown of Lake City, SC.
