Edward Gilyard “affectionally known as Palmer” was. Born August 9, 1950, in Lake City, SC to the late Maggie Gilyard Dicks and Judge Lewis. He received his wings early Thursday morning, December 10, 2020 at his home.
Palmer attended Carver Elementary and Carver High School of Lake City, SC. He played football while in High School. He was an excellent carpenter and bridge builder. He loved his work, and he was exceptionally good at it. He took a lot of pride in his trade of work and was self-employed recently. He was an avid fisherman.
Palmer accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Clair Baptist Church in Lake City, SC.
Palmer leaves to cherish his memories: two children Gary (Beverly) Cooper of Winston Salem, NC and Katrina Gilyard of Manhattan, NY; two sisters: Ruby Grace McCutcheon of Quinby, SC and Eleanor (Katie) Singletary of Lake City, SC; two brothers: Roland (Mary Lou) Dicks of Springs Lake, NC and Allen (Deidra) Dicks of Silver Spring, MD; special friends: Earnest “Dickie Boy” (Geraldine) Dicks and James “ Jenkins” (Tricia) Singletary and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
