Maxine Jones

Sunset: January 20, 2022

Maxine Jones was born to the late Ervin and Margaret Williams Jones on October 5, 1940 in Florence, SC. On Thursday, January 20, 2022 she unexpectedly entered eternal rest at her home in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

Maxine was educated in the Florence County Public School System. She was a proud graduate of Carver High School, class of 1959.

At an early age, Maxine joined Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and attended faithfully until she relocated to Norristown, Pennsylvania.

While spending decades in Norristown, Maxine enjoyed a rewarding career in mental health. She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Mental Health Institution.

Although Maxine did not birth any children of her own, she was instrumental in the rearing of several of her nieces and nephews. She seemed to have a childhood story for each of them and was sure to share them at family gatherings. It did not matter how old she became; the stories were the same each time. Even her laughter would meticulously fall into the same spot. Those moments for her and us were expressions of how proud she was to have been a part of those special moments.

Maxine enjoyed life! Her most joyous moments included her Amtrak train rides back to Lake City to visit family AND to sneak by Ward’s Fish Market. Her most recent fulfillment occurred as she spent her evenings shopping on line. Her favorites were TJ Maxx and QVC.

Maxine’s family will remember her as one-of -kind. The honey blonde colored hair, brightly polished nails, fashionable clothes and jewelry and that shimmering gold lipstick!

She was preceded in death by siblings; Pauline Jones McClam, Henry Jones, Gertrude Jones McClam, and Gloria Jones Champaign

She leaves to cherish her fondest memories to siblings, Ervin Jones, Jr. of Norristown, PA; Chiquita Jones (Carnell) Montgomery and Lento Jones, both of Lake City, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
