Deacon Leroy Rush was born in Clarendon County. He was the son of the late Edsell Rush and Marie Rush. He was born on June 27, 1951. He was preceded in death by one brother: Irell Rush; father: Edsell Rush; and nephew: Landrum Washington. He received his education in Clarendon and Florence County. He was a 1970 graduate of Carver High School of Lake City, SC. He was a member of the Greater St. Stephens Baptist Church. He was the President of the Male Choir, member of the Pulpit Aid and the Men of Unity. He was employed at Bulk Spun, A.B. Dicks, and Milliken. He was a Truck Driver, he drove for Builders Transport, Landair, Schneider and McKenzie Trucking of Kingstree, SC until his health declined. Deacon Rush loved music and he especially loved Lee Williams, his favorite gospel singer. He loved to plan trips and travel. He just loved people and family, especially his two grandchildren.
His loving memory will always be cherished by his devoted wife: Emma Jean Rush of thirty-one years; one son: Kelvin (Melissa) Fulmore of Olanta, SC; two adoring grandchildren: Kelwin and Kelsey Fulmore; his faithful and adoring mother: Mrs. Marie Rush of Olanta, SC; four sisters: Ida (D.D) Washington of Columbia, SC; Lou Ann (William L) Pyatt of Columbia, SC, Sally Burgess of Olanta, SC, Patricia Burrough of Lake City, SC; three sister-in-laws: Joretha (Jefferey) Wilson of Lake City, SC, Gail (Aundray) Lampkin of Lake City, SC, Nancy Graham of Olanta, SC; two brother-in-laws: Charles Fulmore and Stanley (Ethelene) Fulmore of Olanta, SC; additional sister-in-laws: Hilda Rush of Lake City, SC, Michelle Gordon of Florence, SC; one aunt: Marie Tucker of Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
