Jamar N. Matthews

​ Our beloved Jamar Naziar Matthews, affectionately known as “MarMar” and “Matt Loc” died unexpectedly on January 24, 2021 in Myrtle Beach, SC at the young age of 18. Jamar was born on September 05, 2002 in Florence, SC to Lorne Malachia (Chia) Hanna and Rasheena Matthews. He attended the public schools of Florence School District III in Lake City, SC. Jamar was known for his affectionate smile that could light up any room. From a young age, he developed a sensor of humor that turned him into the comedian of the family. Jamar was very athletic, and his speed was shown on the football field. He was a diehard patriot’s fan. He also loved basketball and playing video games. He attended Victory Harvest Church in Lake City, SC. Jamar is survived by his father Lorne Malachia (Drucilla) of Lake City, SC and mother Rasheena Matthews of Hartford, CT; paternal grandmother Leatha Frierson Hanna of Lake City, SC, maternal grandmother Andrea Chaney of Hartford, CT, and paternal grandfather Larry (Rebecca) Hanna of Lake City, SC; Poppi (Neil) Eaddy of Lake City, SC; six brothers Jachia (Kristen), Jaheim (Danisha), Knowledge C of Lake City, SC, Mega of Coward, SC, Tony Jr of Hartford, CT, and LaMaye of Hartford, CT; six sisters: Shantrise Matthews, Kimberly Matthews, Tiombe Matthews, and Dynasia Matthews all of Hartford, CT, Serenity of Lake City, SC, and Anna of Coward, SC; five aunts: Tennille (Mocus) Hanna of Lake City, SC, Dajuna Hanna of Fairfax, VA, Lashonda Matthews, Ciara Evans and Charese Matthews all of Hartford, CT; two nieces: Lenise and Leilani of Hartford, CT; two nephews: Ja’siah of Lake City, SC and Robert of Hartford, CT; nine cousins: Mikayla, Jaudre, Jalaysia, Jasir of Lake City, SC, Perry and Zaria of Fairfax, VA, Laquan, Jasmine, Anna of Hartford, CT, and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by Aunt Renata Hanna, Uncle Louis and Aunt Eugenia Frierson of Lake City, SC, friend of the family Dava Tisdale of Johnsonville, SC, maternal great grandmother Barbara Matthews and maternal grandfather Aaron Ferguson of Hartford, CT, girlfriend: Niterria (NiNi) Johnson of Winston Salem, NC.
