On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Richland Memorial Hospital of Columbia, SC, Derrick Lomont Singletary “Freakty”, departed this earthy life with his mother by his side.
Derrick Lomont Singletary, son of Barbara Ann Singletary and the late Jimmy Major was born on December 5, 1980, in Florence County. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jimmy Lee “Bootchie” Singletary and James Chester “Bryant” Singletary.
He received his education in the Public Schools of Florence County School district Three. He worked as a farmworker and later was employed with J.W. Capers Paintings. He loved to tell jokes, laugh, and make others laugh. He was a loving and dependable person. He enjoyed family and friends gatherings. He was a God-Father, son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, uncle, and a dear friend and was loved by many. He will greatly be missed.
He leaves to cherish is precious memory his mother: Barbara Ann Singletary,; two children that he reared as his own: Tobias Hudson, Harmony Jackson both of Lake City, SC; one brother: Kentrell Jackson of Lake City, SC; two sisters: Chaarlena S. Mills of Olanta, SC, Shanquella Major of Lynchburg, SC. one nephew that he reared as his own: Semaj Singletary of Cussac, SC; grandmother: June Ester Singletary of Tampa, FL; two aunt: Ruth Ann Singletary of Tampa, FL, Annie-Sue Green of Scranton, SC; four great-aunts: Carial (Jimmy) Gilbert of Olanta, SC, Patrica (Larry) Oliver of Turbeville, SC, Penny (Lorrell) Fleming of Turbeville, SC, Sandra Singletary of Olanta, SC; three uncles: Thomas (Allean) Major, Fred McCray both of Olanta, SC and Johnny (Regina) McCray of Scranton, SC; two special cousins: Jake Major of Olanta, SC, Veronica Mills of Olanta, SC; a God-Sister: Maria Major of Olanta, SC; four special friends: Toby Fulmore of Lake City, SC, Michael Jackson of Florence, SC, Ezell Dodson of Olanta, SC, Sheron Jackson of Olanta, SC; a dear friend he reared as a mother: Shirley McFadden of Lake City, SC, additional aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
