Deacon Henry J. Timmons

Sunset: November 15, 2020

Deacon Henry Joe Timmons, son of the late Clydia Timmons, was born August 19, 1936, in Florence County, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 15, 2020, peacefully at his home.

At an early age, Deacon Timmons dedicated his life to the Lord, and he became a faithful member of Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church. He was a true follower of Christ, and he displayed this love through his service as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, male chorus member, and other capacities.

Deacon Timmons was educated in Florence County Public Schools and was a 1958 graduate of Gibbs High School. He was employed at Avondale Manufacturing for 20+ years. He later retired from R & B Enterprise in Lake City, South Carolina. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Deacon Timmons was a kind and gentle person. He spoke softly, but his words made lasting impressions in the hearts of those who loved him.

Deacon Timmons was joined in holy matrimony to Myrtle Bell Hammonds on June 27, 1969. Their marriage was a true testament to unfailing love. God blessed this union with two children. Deacon Timmons, is now reunited with his mother, Clydia; children, Joretta and Byron; three brothers, Junior Dick, Charles, and Willie Joe; and four sisters, Delza Lee, Lola Mae, Sarah, and Juanita. He leaves to cherish his memories: a committed wife, Myrtle Bell Timmons of the home; four sisters-in-law: Pearlease Timmons of Scranton, South Carolina; Janie Bell (Wille Edward) Skinner of Johnsonville, South Carolina; and Connie Brown and Martha (Robert) Hugee, both of Florence; a brother-in-law, Robert Hammonds of Lake City, South Carolina; five godchildren, Joretta Henneghan, CJ Timmons, Makayla Gabriel, Julian McElveen, and Nicholas Eaddy; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
