Sunset: August 14, 2022
Mr. David Preston Frierson, the son of the late Deacon Ed Frierson and Mrs. Lena Parker Frierson was born in Florence County on October 13, 1947. On Sunday, August 14, 2022 God called him to rest from his labor to reward at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
David, “Toe,” as he was called by many, received his formal education in the Florence County Public School Systems and was a graduate of the class of 1966 at Carver High School in Lake City, South Carolina. He continued his education at Florence Darlington Technical College and graduated as a Certified Welder and later obtained a certification for Waste Water Treatment & Management. David was employed at J.P Stevens, later known as Delta Mills for over thirty-one (31) years as a welder until the company closed. He was also employed with Crenlo/Caterpillar for almost eight (8) years until he decided to retire and focus on his true passion, gardening and farming. In addition to gardening and farming, David also worked along side his cousin Walter Lee Frieson and his late brother Edward Frierson, painting various companies, houses, churches and funeral homes just to name a few. His love for gardening/farming continued until the day he passed. David’s hobbies included fishing, the love for the Washington Redskin’s Football Team, grilling on his very own built by hand grill, barbequing pigs for the holidays and spending time with his grandkids.
At an early age, David accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Savannah Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He was a faithful member and served various ministries: The Trustee Board, Banking Committee, Male Chorus, Mass/Combined Choir, Pastor’s Aide, Harvest Hope and Hospitality & Food Services. David was also a member of Olive Grove Lodge #339 and the HRAM Pee Dee Chapter #32.
Three brothers preceded David in death, Joseph Frison, Eddie Frison and Edward Frierson. And six sisters, Carrie Lee Crawford, Viola State, Mary Etta Frieson, Jessie Mae Harrison and Lena Mae Frierson.
David, leaves to cherish his precious memory, three children: David DeWayne (Deona) Frierson of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Wendy D. Frierson of Florence, South Carolina and Winifred R. Frierson of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister Margaret Burgess of Lake City, South Carolina and a brother Ernest (Deloris) Frierson of Coward, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Malik, Jasmine, Isaiah, Kaleb, MacKenzie and Hannah; a sister-in-law Ethelean Frison of Florence, South Carolina; two special cousins; Walter Lee (Carolyn) Frieson of Coward, South Carolina and Louetta Henneghan of Florence, South Carolina. He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
