Catherine Washington

Catherine entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 9:22 am at McLeod Hospital in Florence, SC after an extended illness. Catherine Godwin Washington, the daughter of the late Viola McClam Godwin and Clyde Godwin, was born January 6, 1934 in Florence County. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Willie Ruth Godwin; two brothers: Robert Godwin and Clyde Godwin (Junior). Catherine Godwin Washington accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a member of Greater Saint James AME Church, Lake City, SC. Catherine Godwin Washington was married to Roosevelt Washington. Catherine’s memories will be cherished by: her loving and devoted husband, Roosevelt Washington; two granddaughters, she raised as her own: Porcha (Michael) Gamble of Columbia, SC and Sharrell Washington of the home; two sisters: Helen Thomas of Texas and Sadie Scott (Eddie) Hannah of Florence, SC; two brothers: Randolph Godwin and John Wilson Godwin of Lake City, SC; four grandchildren: Ty’Quan Hannah and Carter McFarlin both of Lake City, SC, Kayleigh Washington and Ky’Ron Washington both of Columbia, SC; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to especially thank Pruitt Home Health, McLeod Hospital, Louise McClam and Shonta Chandler.
