Ahmad Abdulla, the son of the late Malachi and Hattie Mayes
Wilson was born on February 27, 1942, in Lake City, SC. He
graduated from the Florence County Public School System. He
attended Morris College in Sumter, SC. One brother, Rev. Alva
L. Wilson preceded him into death.
Ahmad was a person who loved God first. He loved his earthy
family beyond words and he demonstrated a love for the whole
human creation of God. He also loved music and art.
At an early age, Ahmad joined St. John United Methodist
Church and remained a member until he loved to New York
City in the early 1960’s. He converted to Islam in 1969. In the
1970’s Ahmad moved his family to Huntington, NY into their
first home where he became an avid vegetable gardener. When
he returned to SC in 2008, he continued his passion for farming
and gardening.
Ahmad held several jobs in New York. He was employed be
Lehman Brothers for over thirty years and retired as one of the
many vice presidents in 2003.
Ahmad’s death ended his physical life, but he lives on in the
memories of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind
his wife: Hamida Abdullah of South Carolina; his daughter:
Iyetundr Abdullah of Huntington, NY; his nephews, nieces,
cousins, other relatives and friends.
